Zusammenfassung
Die Siebenten-Tags-Adventisten sind seit über hundert Jahren Teil der Geschichte des Christentums in Österreich. Die ersten adventistischen Missionare trotzten den schwierigen religionspolitischen Umständen des späten 19. und frühen 20. Jahrhunderts und konnten ab 1907 Vereine und Gemeinden gründen. Damit begann ein kontinuierliches Wachstum, bei dem die Botschaft von der baldigen Wiederkunft Christi vor allem im Kontext der beiden Weltkriege auf verstärkte Aufmerksamkeit in Österreich traf. Durch Bildungseinrichtungen und Engagement im Bereich Gesundheit und Diakonie konnten sich die Siebenten-Tags-Adventisten nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg endgültig in Österreich etablieren. Heute ist die Gemeinschaft unter dem Namen „Kirche der Siebenten-Tags-Adventisten“ in Österreich als staatlich eingetragene Bekenntnisgemeinschaft anerkannt. Sie besteht aus über 60 lokalen Gemeinden und Gruppen und betreibt mehrere private Schulen sowie das Bildungszentrum Seminar Schloss Bogenhofen, das auch eine theologische Ausbildung anbietet.

Summary
For more than a hundred years, Seventh-day Adventists have been part of Christian history in Austria. In spite of the difficult religious-political circumstances in Austria at end of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century, the first Adventist missionaries put great effort on spreading their message and after 1907 were finally able to found lecture societies and churches. From that year on, Seventh-day Adventism in Austria experienced a continuous growth, especially in the context of the two world wars that contributed to an increased religious attentiveness towards the Adventist message of Christ’s imminent return. After the Second World War, educational institutions and social welfare organizations helped to finally establishing Seventh-day Adventism in Austria. Today, the “Kirche der Siebenten-Tags-Adventisten” is officially recognized as a registered faith community by the Austrian state. The church comprises over 60 local congregations and groups and runs a number of private schools as well as the “Seminar Schloss Bogenhofen”, a centre of education that also includes a senior college of Adventist theology.
